The Mask
(Reflecting on the past few days here in Greensboro)

Do you hear her?

Do you hear her cry?

She is quick to tell you she is fine, she will tell you and look you straight in the eye.

There is an angry undertone to her young voice. It is easy to label her as a trouble maker, to say she is a rebellious child.

Yet, if we sit long enough…. If we stop interrupting and listen we would see a thin crack in her mask. We would see a young girl. We would see insecurities and hurt.

She is yelling at you and throws a book; she slams the door on her way out. She is very good at fooling us … she hates more than anything to cry.

Will we sit long enough? Will we sit and listen until the angry words begin to subside?

We pray for wisdom as we catch a glimpse of the girl behind this Anger Mask?

It's so hard to sit and wait. It's tempting to give in and give up and let them push you away. God is telling me through many different people and mediums to not give in. Thank you.
