Monday

Today was the first day of Glenwood Summer Camp. Some things have changed since we began 3 years ago, and some things have not. (Hint: Such as the Slip and Slide… but more on that at the end of this entry)

All in all there are 33 of us participating in Camp this year. This is the most that we have ever taken. One young lady summed it up in a quote that only some of the seasoned Glenwood folks will fully appreciate. “ Man**, Ms. Suzanne we are 33 deep? That is more than any other summers! If we went to the fair 33 deep NOBODY would bother us!”

Our day began with playing train wreak and letting the kids and the new “G.U.P.Y.s” get to know each other, followed up by DELISIOUS breakfast casseroles that Regina C. cooked for us all. YUMMMY!! They were a big hit with the kids…thanks again Regina!

After breakfast we had a discussion and Bible study on “Qualities that we admire in earthly fathers and how God is our Father.” The kids really did for the most part do a great job participating in large group time and in their small group times with their G.U.P.Y.

After lunch, a few rounds of variations of dodge-ball, and some small group discussions on “If you were the president how would you help the homeless?” We were off to the slip and slide.

Now to really appreciate the Glenwood Camp tradition of Slip and Slide, you must understand a few things first.

1) This is no ordinary slide and slide. This is construction site plastic that is several feet wide and LONG. (We had 2 put together!)

2) DISH SOAP!!!! The more soap you use the fast you will go… just make sure you close you eyes.

3) Beware of the bushes that a few of us landed in

4) If you are a top quality slip and slider you will keep sliding in the grass after the slide!

Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy from our day. We leave early in the morning for D.C. and will return on Sat…more to come next week!

A BIG THANK YOU to each one of you that have supported us financial and prayerfully!
