Today Was The Day!

A little over a month ago one of the High school girls that participates in G.D.M. and Tutoring set out to earn a hamster. Her way of earning this ball of fur may be controversial to some and a little sacrilegious to others, but it worked for us and turned out to be a double blessing! I typed her up a sheet of Bible verses and she could earn $1 per Bible Verse that she memorized. This morning around 11am she finished the last of her 17 verses and even did well on a little “pop quiz”. We (daughter, mother, and I) got in the car to go get her hamster and it was a celebration! While driving to “Pets mart” we talked about what it meant to “keep company with those with pure hearts to the Lord” we talked about “not judging others” and “not putting ourselves above others”, and why a “gentle answer turns away wrath.” And the beautiful thing about it was that it was all initiated by this young woman who had memorized verses to earn her hamster. I am happy to announce that “Precious” now lives her in Glenwood in a lovely yellow hamster house with plenty of food water and bedding.  Congratulation “M” on a job well done!
